RO. O problemă cu care ne confruntăm este durata de viață redusă a bateriilor telefoanelor mobile smart. Tehnologia lor avansată și aplicațiile din ce în ce mai utile nu pot compensa faptul că necesită sa fie reîncărcate des. Cu toții ne-am săturat de fire întinse prin casă. Dar ce alternative avem? Datorită puterii transmise fără fir, se pot crea circuite simple pe bază de elemente etalon. Puteți chiar realiza un astfel de circuit Wireless Power urmând pașii enumerați în link.  Un alt mod isteț este utilizarea unei baterii de 9 volți, în cazurile în care ai nevoie urgentă de reîncărcare și nu ai la îndemână o sursă de curent. Pentru cei care cred că este o metodă învechită, s-au inventat baterii cu o durată de viață de 20 de ani. Unele companii chiar au implementat niște dispozitive cu acest scop. De exemplu, Duracell a prezentat la Congresul Mobile World un prototip de husă pentru iPhone ce permite reîncărcarea bateriei sale, dar și Samsung a expus o parte din tehnologiile lor deja existente pentru această necesitate. Intel vor scoate pe piață în 2015 un bol de reîncărcare al smartphone-urilor  ce va rezolva problema.

ENG. One of the problems we face today is the short life span of smartphones’ batteries. Their advanced technology and the apps which become more useful can’t compensate the fact that they need to be recharged often. We are all tired of having power chords all over the house. But what alternatives do we have? Thanks to power transmitted without wires, simple circuits can be created using standard elements. You can even make your own Wireless Power device following the steps from the source. Another smart way is using a 9 volt battery, when you need immediate recharging and you don’t have access to a power supply. For those of you who thinks this is an obsolete method, scientists have invented batteries that last 20 years. Some companies even created gadgets with this purpose. For example, Duracell presented at the Mobile World Congress a prototype for an iPhone charging case, and Samsung also showcased part of their already existing technology in this domain. In 2015, Intel will release a wireless charging bowl which will solve our problem.

3D Printing – Autodesk 123D

RO. Autodesk 123D este o aplicație pentru iPhone și Android ce permite crearea unor machete și modele în 3D. O parte dintre opțiuni sunt: Catch- captarea unor fotografii din direcții multiple și mularea lor în 3D, Creature- crearea și printarea unor creaturi fantastice, Design- realizarea unui model digital pe internet, telefon sau calculator și printarea lui în 3D, Make- alcătuirea modelelor 3D din hârtie și Sculpt- desenare digitală pe telefon. Am încercat Circuits, care este o viitoare modalitate de a învăța sau preda acest subiect.

ENG. Autodesk 123D is an iPhone and Android app that allows you to create 3D models. A part of their options are: Catch- taking photos from various directions and modeling them in 3D; Creature- designing and printing fantastic creatures; Design- creating the digital model on the web, on your phone, or on your desktop, and then print it in 3D;  Make- transforming 3D models into a cut pattern, and Sculpt- paint digitally on your phone. I personally tried Circuits, and consider it a future way of learning, or teaching this subject.

Windows 10

RO. De ce nu 9? Pentru că 9 este un număr popular deja. Glumesc. De fapt, pentru că există versiuni mai vechi, gen 95/98/98SE. Sau poate că nu, pentru că asta ar însemna că are legătură cu Windows 1. Faptul că se sare peste un număr înseamnă pentru Microsoft o schimbare fundamentală. Înainte de a critica, să vedem care sunt caracteristicile sale. Windows 10 pare a fi un proiect ambițios de a combina Windows 7 si 8 într-un sistem de operare modern. Va fi lansat în 2015, după o conferință din Aprilie. Dacă vreți să contribuiți la o variantă mai bună, puteți să încercați versiunea de test de pe Windows Insider Program. Va rula pe PC-uri, tablete și smartphone-uri. Se lucrează la aplicații ce pot fi instalate simultan pe toate dispozitivele pe care le deții. Aplicațiile “Metro” vor fi opționale. Pentru cei dintre voi care nu știu ce sunt aceste aplicații “Metro” sau “Modern”: se deschid pe tot ecranul, nu într-o fereastră, și nu pot fi minimizate. Mai mult, vechiul meniu de Start este înapoi. Dar vor păstra acele Live Tiles. Personal, sunt încântată de noua opțiune de vizualizare a sarcinilor și de ecranele multiple. Trăiască eficacitatea!

ENG. Why not 9? Because 9 is an already popular number. Just kidding. Actually it’s because of older versions, like 95/98/98SE. Or not, since that would mean it’s related to Windows 1. Skipping a number means for Microsoft a fundamental change. Before criticizing it, let’s see what are some of its features. Windows 10 sounds like an ambitious project to blend Windows 7 and 8 into one modern operating system. It will be released in 2015, after a conference in April. If you want to contribute to a better version, you can get the preview build at Windows Insider Program. It will run on PCs, tablets, and smartphones. They are working to bring apps which can be installed simultaneously on all your devices. “Metro” apps will be optional. For those of you who don’t know about these “Metro” or “Modern” apps, they basically open in full-screen mode, not in a window, and they can’t be minimized. Moreover, that old Start menu is back. But they will keep the Live Tiles. Personally, I’m excited for the new task view button and the multiple desktops. Go multitasking!

RO. Sper că acest sistem de operare nu va avea versiuni gen Windows 10.1 sau Windows Upgrade. Sunt destul de enervante. Pe lângă faptul că am cumpărat un produs cu care m-am obișnuit greu, a trebuit și să aștept instalarea de noutăți care apăreau atunci când aveam lucruri importante de făcut. Îmi doresc să se lucreze mai mult la interfața pentru telefoane, care nu îmi place deloc. Putem aștepta câțiva ani un produs pe care îl avem deja. Să își asume responsabilitatea pentru schimbări mari precum butonul de Start. Vrem stabilitate. Nu o primim. Se reinventează lucruri din trecut, fără a se strădui să schimbe puțin design-ul, care este prea minimalistic și plictisitor. Dacă nu o să vă reveniți, voi inginerilor Microsoft, Android va veni cu o versiune pentru calculatoare care va fi mult mai bună și mai iubită. 

ENG. Hopefully, this won’t get upgraded versions like Windows 10.1 or Windows 10 Upgrade. Those are really annoying. Besides the fact that I bought an OS with which I got used to really hard, I had to wait for continuous endless updates that popped up whenever I had important stuff to do. I wish they would work more on its smartphone’s interface that I dislike. We can wait a few years for a product that we already have. Take responsibility for big changes like the Start menu. We need stability. We’re not getting it. They are just reinventing stuff from the past, not even bothering to change a little bit the design too, which is very minimalistic and dull. If you’re not going to get a grip on yourselves, you Microsoft engineers, Android will come with a PC operating system that will be better and more loved.
